On Saturday, October17th, while on a ministry trip in Kunsan City, Korea; I met Jehovah-Jireh.I was praying to prepare for the evening service after just having been on a long walk around a inner-city lake near the hotel where I was staying.

The lake was a beautiful place but my heart was moving with the nearness of God. What happened next was a life changing experience.

I had just left a ministry time two days before in Seoul and some of the ministry staff where I served wrote me an email telling me they were going to send me some money. It was a large donation by my standards and was thankful. In my heart I put my hand on that money too quickly and wrote back thanking them for the donation.

Soon I received back an email informing me I had misunderstood the situation. I felt so ashamed of myself. I had put my trust in the money and realized I was sinning against my brother and against the Lord.

I closed my computer and knelt down on the floor repenting for loving money and seeing money as my hope more than God.

‘Jesus I am so sorry, I love money more than you! Please forgive me! Please, cover over my sin and wash me clean of this! Put your love in my heart where I love money. Let your love fill my heart more than the love of money!’

Instantly my room filled with the presence of the Lord, I was weeping as Holy Spirit made his presence known. I heard in my spirit, “Gen. 22!”

I could not remember what was in Gen. 22 so turning there, I found the story of Abraham taking Isaac to Mt. Moriah as a sacrifice.

Isaac asked his father, ‘Father…where is the sacrifice for the offering.’

Abraham’s answer to this day still shakes me, ‘My son, God will provide for HIMSELF a sacrifice…”

Then God stays Abraham’s hand and the man of God builds an altar and names it – THE LORD WILL PROVIDE  or ‘Jehovah-Jireh’

My heart was pierced with the reality that provision that day had nothing to do with money! It was about the salvation of a man’s life. Provision that day was salvation.

It is the first place in scripture where one of the ‘Jehovah’ names (that’s a Gentile term name we use, the actual reference is YHWH) is mentioned; therefore, it sets the precedent for all the other names recorded in the bible. In other words, every time one of the other names is used, we are also seeing Jehovah-Jireh at work providing himself for that moment. So for example, when healing is needed, Jehovah-Jireh provides Jehovah-Rapha, the Lord who heals you!

Friends, that day in my hotel room I met Jehovah-Jireh the Lord Will Provide. All anxiety over my present situation vanished. I began praying for my financial pressures and putting them on the altar. I spoke out the fact that they do not define me nor my love for Jesus.

I began to pray for my wife who was at home watching over her sick niece for the Lord to give my wife strength. Then it hit me, my niece needs Jehovah-Rapha, so I prayed for her. I saw a dark cloud hovering over her bed and rebuked the cloud until it left.

Wow, what a time of prayer. When I was done, I opened my computer to two messages. 1) My niece was better and the fever over her had broke; 2) I had an email from a group of friends who were donating a large amount of money to us.

God provided that day and I met Jehovah-Jireh. Thank you Lord.

Recently, Dale was on a ministry trip in Korea and my brother Dwayne and his wife Jennifer were speaking at a One Thing Conference in Egypt. A while back I had offered to care for Dwayne and Jennifer’s children during the time they were all going to be away.

A day and a half before Dwayne and Jennifer left Kansas City their middle child, Chloe became very sick; she had a high fever, was nauseated and vomiting. She had this flu that is going around which has a lot of ‘stigma’ attached to it.

After seeking medical advice and knowing “Aunty Cheryl” would be caring for the children, Jennifer continued with her plans and went to Egypt.

Well, Chloe was very sick and had a high fever for a few more days. She ached, could hardly walk and needed to be encouraged to take any fluids. She slept upstairs with me so I would hear her in the night and I could keep a better eye on her. Finally her fever broke and even after that she was so weak she needed help to the bathroom.

One afternoon, after Chloe’s fever broke, I was out putting  gas in the car so Jordan could drive the healthy ones to a soccer game. While in the vehicle I heard the Lord say so clearly, “You have ministered well to the Nations!”  I had done what needed to be done and God complimented me!?!

This experience got me thinking about those of you who have supported Dale, myself, and our children while we have served here at the International House of Prayer in Kansas City. I want to complement you in the way you have ‘ministered to’ our family so that we could be here at IHOP-KC.  You have done what you were able to do, and the nations have been strengthened in righteousness through you.

This year, we have opened the door to over 800 people in the program called ‘The Commission’ we lead here at IHOP-KC. Some are here for a short time and others stay for three months. Half of those that attend come from the United States while the other half from the continents of the earth.

Dale is called upon to teach in the nations frequently. Over the next three months we will be in Poland, Norway and Egypt.

I pass on God’s complement to you:

You have served the nations well by helping our family be here. We say, “thank you”.

Have you ever considered how Jesus ate?

I must admit that I haven’t given it a lot of thought.

I’ve read the scriptures…Matt. 4:4 and others like it. John 6 – I am the bread of life…

John 4 where Jesus evangelizes Sychar and starts a revival. An entire town comes to Jesus and he calls that his ‘food…’

Last week, I was evangelizing on the streets of our city with our teams. We met a man who was just waiting for someone to talk to him. The story is long and great but suffice it to say, he really got saved.

That night also he received the Baptism of the HOly Spirit as well. It was a good night.

Friends that was two Friday’s ago and I am still living out of that experience. It has been my food. I have been feeding off of the fact the Lord had me talk to him, have him there waiting all night wanting to sell popcorn and have no business at all until after he got saved.

Jesus in John 4 starts with one woman, gets a word of knowledge about her, and she brings the town to him…the rest is HIS-story.

Then he tells the disciples, you say, we have to wait for the harvest. I am telling you (and I am paraphrasing) open your eyes, he tells them, I am hungry, there is a harvest right now.

Can I say this and we understand it? We need to get hungry for the food that Jesus is hungry for…human souls.

Yes, Jesus ate food from the earth. natural food. He ate with his disciples at the wedding in Cana. He celebrated the passover with his disciples…he ate on several different occasions. But somehow, I don’t think food from this earth owned him.

Isaiah 7:15 tells us that his food released him into greater connection with the Father. ‘Curds and honey he shall eat, that he might know to refuse the evil and choose the good.’

See that friends…his diet did two things.

1) It gave him the knowledge of Good and Evil. I believe this knowledge came from his Father because he had control of his appetites.

2) It gave him the power to make decisions. Decisions to choose the good and refuse the evil. He was able not only to see what was right and wrong but also have the power to make the choice – to act on what he saw.

If there is anything our generation needs it’s the ability to see what is right and wrong and act upon it.

It all starts with our relationship with Father and having control of our appetites.

Jesus was clear. he did not feed his stomach alone, but he first fed his spirit on the words coming from the Father’s mouth. This is true food.

AFter all, isn’t the spirit more than the body. In time my friends out bodies will fail and fall. man is like grass, here today and gone tomorrow. But, our spirit lives on.

Can we give him our spirit and feed it on the true words of life that issue from his mouth?

We need to be washed in his words, bathed in his words, marinaded in his words…get the point.

Have you ever considered the beauty of Jesus reflected to us in His self-denial?

Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, ⁶who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, ⁷but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. ⁸And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Phil. 2: 5-8

Consider these verses with me from Paul’s letter to the church at Philippi.

Describing the nature and beauty of the man Jesus, Paul tells us a very critical aspect of the Son of God’s character.

Jesus had control over his appetites, especially the appetite for glory and approval of men. You and I call it the ‘fear of man’ and Jesus didn’t have one ounce of it in him.

Jesus came and though he was God in the flesh he didn’t access that glory outside the will of his Father.

He decided to live life like the rest of us do, being lead by God’s Holy Spirit or not. He chose to be lead by God.

It’s like having 100 Billion dollars in your bank account and never using it. And, never telling anyone you have that much.

You and I think, “Dude, use the dough! You got the stash, so bring it out and let us all in on it.”

You and I can’t handle it that way. We want people to accept us based on what we can offer them. A prophetic word, a cup of coffee, a million dollars etc. Jesus didn’t do it that way.

And, he didn’t want people to relate to him based on what he had in the bank. Think of it! Most of us would want people to know we had that much! Why? Cause somehow it would change the way they relate to us. You can work the psychology of that one but suffice it to say, most of us for so many different reasons couldn’t keep that kind of news quiet.

Well Dale, I don’t have a 100 billion dollars in my bank account so you don’t have to worry about me doing that.

Wait just a minute. I have a question and/or example.

Have you ever ‘name dropped?’  You know what I mean, “let it slip” (though it wasn’t a slip) that you are; 1) in the know about some secret about someone important; 2) that someone really well known prayed for you or gave you a prophetic word; 3) you are good friends with somebody well known and everybody else has to ‘pastor’ the envy in their hearts?

Ever done that?  Why?  What did it add to the conversation?  What purpose did it serve?

See Jesus never did that.

He lived by Father’s words without making it sound like he was the only one who could do such things.

He talked about Father as if we should all know God as Father and could. He always talked about ‘Abba’ like the door was open for us to go and talk to Him.

Jesus never used his 100 billion dollars choosing instead to live by the tools given to man by God – prayer, fasting, generosity of spirit, forgiveness, and “denying oneself” and following God (servant spirit).

And, Jesus never name dropped as if he only could talk to God. He welcomed all into the group, whoever wanted to come. He told Peter when his thoughts were God thoughts and when they were Satanic thoughts. Jesus opened a door for Peter and he heard about Jesus from the Father for himself.

This is not a time to seek our own way, clamor for our own ministry position or stage our own production. The beauty of Jesus demonstrated in his self-denial is something worthy of investigation and ‘ingestion’.

This is some of His hidden manna.  Let’s eat!

I am starting 21 days of ‘eating the true bread of heaven’ (Oct. 5-25). Most of that time I will be in Korea, however me and bunch of friends are going after something.

We want to feed on the beauty of Jesus, the true bread of heaven – Jn.6:32-35.

Last night I had a dream. In my dream, a man, I did not recognize him, said to me, ‘Dale, the whirlwind of God is in Ps. 119.’

I have no idea what that means but am going to take it literally.

I read several of the first verses and it speaks of God’s law and his word being the way we keep ourselves pure, the way we learn wisdom, the way we know the path of life, and so on.

I wonder if the man was an angel speaking to me about Ps. 119.

Blessed are the undefiled (blameless) in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord! Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, Who seek Him with the whole heart!

I feel this was given as an encouragement that this fast I am on is from the Lord and that he is after changing my ‘taste buds’.

So this is what I am going to do as a practical way in this fast to walk in the way.

Whenever I feel bored or don’t know what to do, whenever my ‘honey do’ list from my wife is accomplished…I want to read the word when I am hungry, instead of turning to earthly food, I will turn to the true bread that is from heaven.

I have been discovering a very important truth…

The stomach (natural realm) and the mouth of God (spiritual realm) have an influence on one another. Whichever one you feed the most, will develop in strength and overrule, dominate and govern the other. Just one problem. While the stomach cannot feed the spirit it exerts a strong influence, BUT the spirit does feed the stomach.

So I am challenged in this. I believe the Lord is changing my taste buds. But this can’t be done in any religious way or it won’t work. It can only come as I feed on the beauty of Jesus Christ, teaching my heart to see the beauty found in the Son of God.

My ability to reach for him, and respond to these changes comes from a constant, consistent gaze on Jesus – the true bread.

Imagine being sick from having too much of something!  Is it possible?Absolutely it is!

It’s how such things as addictions to sin grow in greater strength and deeper depths.

It’s a simple cycle or progression.

We crave and receive. The taste is so amazing that it adjusts our desires and acts like an imprint on our soul.

Then, the next time we have to have more or change the taste a little so our taste buds don’t get bored. If boredom sets in, then we are in a little deeper trouble. The next time the craving attacks, we need to provide enough for the craving to be satiated (at least for the moment).

Then, deeper the next time. Still deeper…until we hit a huge break out.

We break out so deeply and so profusely that we gorge.

To gorge (on whatever – it’s not about food) means “to stuff greedily or profusely…” Our addiction for need creates a brain wave pattern almost like a seizure whereby we loose our capacity to think or engage our will. At that moment we are not in control of our lives. We are almost like a great white shark violently feeding on our lusts for (whatever) and until the physical and psychological energy is climaxed, the session will not lapse.

As the feeding frenzy ends, all that is left is a dull tired state where physical and mental responsiveness is low and sickness sets in.

It is at this place that many have an open moment of what I call the ’sickness of having too much.’ They are at a place where their souls are so heavy with addiction and sickness they have a state of self-hatred. It lasts only a few moments to a couple of hours until physical and mental strength can be regained.

Like the children of Israel in the wilderness gorging themselves on quail, sickness hits their souls and the craving of human nature takes over.

God tells them that they will not only eat for a few days but a whole month until they loathe (get sick of) the meat.

They had so much, that they hated the very taste of it. They had so much that they became sick of it. They had so much and it diminished their ability to see the beauty of God found in the manna that came from heaven.

CIUDAD JUAREZ, Mexico — Police have arrested five men accused of dozens of murders, including two mass killings at drug treatment centers in this northern Mexico border city.

Police say the men were members of the Sinaloa cartel, a violent gang entrenched in a brutal turf war for control of drug routes to the United States.

The men are accused of 45 different executions in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico’s most violent city. They were arrested by law enforcement agents during a routine street patrol, according to a statement released Friday by federal police.

Police said the arrests solve two high-profile attacks that shocked even this violence-plagued city. On Sept. 2, gunmen lined patients against a wall at a rehabilitation center in Ciudad Juarez and then riddled them with bullets, killing 18. Two weeks later, gunmen burst into another drug treatment center and killed 10 people.

The executions prompted the authorities to close at least 10 unregistered drug rehabilitation centers in Ciudad Juarez out of concern that the facilities were serving as cover or recruiting grounds for drug trafficking gangs.

Police said with Friday’s arrests, officials have accounted for 292 of the 1,720 murders in Ciudad Juarez so far this year.

It’s time to put all our cards on the table. It’s time to take the content of our lives and put it on the altar. Whatever remains after the refining, after the burning; we get to keep.

We need to consider our lives very carefully.

How shall we spend our time?

How shall we spend our money?

How shall we use our homes?

Who has the best ‘end of life’ plan? (As President Obama would say)

In this hour I am being challenged to put everything on the table.

I am challenged cause I think what I have is quite weak!

Put everything on the table.

Rethink your plans and build a life that is devoid of the deceptive mirage of the American Dream.

Friends, build your life goals based on the shadows of approaching ‘eternity.’

Singers, musicians – write songs that you would sing to Jesus.

Preachers, teachers – prepare your hearts with truth, righteousness, justice and keep your tongue from speaking evil.

Marketplace workers/CEO’s etc. – study the life of Joseph and David in the bible. Biblical content that tells great stories gives you something real to talk about around the water cooler. Do not anchor your identity in what you do, that’s your assignment not your identity. At the dinner table. At business meetings. In the end, it will be about what your life’s work reveals about Jesus that will pass through the fire of his soon coming return.

men, women and children – pray more, give often, fast, read the word of God, laugh together…

Everything that we (humans) do right now in this hour must be gauged by the cross of Jesus and the light of eternity.

Anything else will not pass the test!
