As I have been considering Luke 18 and the widow’s cry for justice, I realize that the ultimate cry for justice is found in the Second Coming of Jesus. As we establish a cry for the justice of Jesus on earth as it is in heaven we must remember that the fullness of this justice is the return of Jesus and his millennial reign on the earth. We are told that righteousness and justice are the foundations of His throne [Ps. 89: 14; 97: 2]. So we know that his throne in heaven sits on these two foundations. What we don’t always consider is that his earthly throne after his Second Coming will still be built on these two foundation stones.
The reason we can cry now for justice is because his throne right now exists and on that throne is a living man. Now we can appeal to the one who sits on a literal throne. However, this throne in heaven is not the fullness of what’s in store. Through the prophets God has promised that there would be a literal throne on the earth – just as real as the one in heaven.
Listen to the words of Isaiah…
“Now it shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow to it. Many people shall come and say, ‘Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; he will teach us his ways, and we shall walk in His paths. For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. He shall judge between the nations, and rebuke many people…” Isa. 2: 2-4
Daniel 2 speaks of a ‘mountain’ that comes and crushes all the other kingdoms (precious metals of the statue) and grows to fill the whole earth. This rock is not cut by human hands but comes from heaven and grows to fill the whole earth. We are speaking of Jesus and his millennial reign from Jerusalem. He and his kingdom rule will flow from his chosen capital of Jerusalem.
Isaiah further states in his 62 chapter that the heart of God is to set watchmen on the walls of Jerusalem with a specific mandate. ‘To cry out night and day…to never be silent until God makes Jerusalem the praise of the earth.’ [62: 1, 6-7]. The only way the Father will make Jerusalem the praise of the earth is when his son Jesus takes up his throne as the Son of David, King of the Jews.
So…when we cry out for justice, we are asking with faith in light of a living man on the throne of heaven but also in light of the truth that he will rule from Jerusalem. As we cry out in faith in this future event yet to take place, the reality of that event, though still in the future, touches down on the earth because the man on the throne of heaven wants to grant the visible evidence that what we cry out for is real, now. It can happen now, when we cry out night and day because he is alive ruling now, though not yet on the earth. There may be a fight now but we should never shrink back from asking now, in light of his promises – whether written or given through prophetic utterance.
Our ultimate cry for justice is Isa. 62 – that Jesus would come to Jerusalem and rule. That he would make it the praise of the earth – because He is there!

This is great article!
