A Prayer of Invitation – ‘Come Holy Spirit!’

30 04 2007

I have prayed a prayer in the past that is very simple. there is a principle in the gospels where Jesus tells Peter that, ‘whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.’ [Matt. 16:19]

So here’s my simple prayer…’Holy Spirit, be loosed in my life. I bind self and ask that you would be loosed. Come take up residence. Come have your way.’ Read the rest of this entry »

Corrupt to the Core

30 04 2007

God is at work in these days and hours convincing me of my desperate need for him. I was talking with a friend the other day who has had recent back surgery. He was in bed for weeks recovering unable to do the things he is used to. He has a business, an active life, ministry reponsibilities etc – all of which he was unable to attend to while convalescing. He made this interesting statement that pierced my heart though he didn’t know it. He said, ‘I was brought to the place where I had to find out if Jesus was all I’ve got.’ Read the rest of this entry »

Breaking Free From Our Preoccupation With A Spirit of Death – pt.3

27 04 2007

Jonathan Hunter, Associate Director of Desert Stream Ministries, knows this topic well and has great authority in breaking free from a spirit of death. I’ve been reading his little booklet, Breaking Free from the Spirit of Death, that comes from a full course teaching. It has been the timing of the Lord and very powerful.
I decided to use his prayer that he gave in its entirety. I really do believe it works and if it works then don’t fix it! I also know that I need to pray this as often as I see my life slipping back into those old patterns of death. Since I live in a culture that propogates death then I need to wash myself daily with the word and the life of God.

Our Preoccupation With A Spirit of Death – pt.2

27 04 2007

” Familiar fearful thoughts have convinced a lot of us that to take up arms against our foe will only lead to disappointment and failure, maybe even harm. Convinced of this lie, many of us have become spiritually apprehensive and sedentary when it comes to exercising our authority in Christ. Because we Christians have the potential of doing the most damage to the enemy, immobilized is exactly how the devil wants to keep us!” [Jonathan Hunter]

So how do we break free from a spirit of death? Read the rest of this entry »

Daniel 6 – Breaking Down the Fear of the End-Times

26 04 2007

One of the greatest gifts the Lord gave me early on in my study of the end-times was Daniel 6. I realized that in this chapter there was a word of encouragement that would help me navigate a message and topic that brought much fear to my heart. My fears were the usual things that hit ones heart when there is ignorance of the main teachings and doctrines of the word. I was afraid because I didn’t have a lot of revealed knowledge of God’s plan. So how did Daniel 6 help? Read the rest of this entry »

Our Preoccupation With A Spirit of Death

26 04 2007

As I consider the season and ‘zone’ that I am in with Jesus I am struck by our [NA-western culture] preoccupation with death. It is a very pervasive thing hidden well within the confines of the culture. We can immediately identify obvious patterns that promote death as they are so easy to see. Abortion, murder, suicide, human trafficking and all forms of pornography and sexual immorality – just to name a few. Read the rest of this entry »

The Nearness of Jesus – Dan. 3

26 04 2007

I just thought of something from Daniel 3…again! I just noticed that in the fire, and not until our three young heroes were IN the fire; did the Angel of the Lord [Jesus in my opinion] show up. Read the rest of this entry »

Jesus – You’re All I’ve Got! – Dan. 3

26 04 2007

I can’t get off of Daniel 3 and the whole thought of three young men, in the context of corporate encouragement [they only had one another], making a choice to ‘yield their bodies’ to God. Read the rest of this entry »

Battling the Flesh – Dan. 3: 27-29

23 04 2007

I really don’t know where to put this entry…in my journal or Daniel so obviously here it is in Daniel.
My life is at war right now, and it is good. So good! God has been talking to my heart through his word and life experiences about something I’ve been praying about for a few months now…I have lived for so long a mediocre life. I have not reached for the ‘above average’ in anything I’ve done. It has not always been that I was half hearted. I’ve done some serious, intense things in life wholeheartedly but with very limited low level goals! It’s not always about half hearted efforts but sometimes low level goals. Setting our sights far below what God has for us or wants to develop in us. Read the rest of this entry »

Overwhelmed by an ocean of love!

21 04 2007

I have noticed a strange phenomenon in the last little while in my heart. There are times that my small heart gets overwhelmed with the love of God. I mean there are moments where gratitude wells up and overflows. I don’t feel like a big tidal wave is coming my way,… yes that too is overwhelming. No, my feeling is being in the middle of the ocean about 100 feet down under water and going deeper. It is the feeling of drowning in the ocean of God’s love. It’s at this moment that the strange phenomenon takes place… Read the rest of this entry »
